My Kids And Me Are Overweight

Being fat is the result of a lot of different factors.  A busy schedule or unhealthy habits often are things that can make a person add some pounds.  One cannot usually pinpoint a specific cause for the extra weight, instead there are several things that have caused it.  There is one thing that a person must confront, and that is their family history.
Obesity will often affect many people in a family.  The cause of the extra pounds that run in a family is often thought to be genetics that are beyond their control.  There are other reasons behind  a group of related people to be fat.  The reasons can be found in a much simpler form.  A family is more likely to share the same bad habits that can lead to obesity.  If one person in the family decides that they need to eat a dinner consisting of fast food every night, then all of the family will eat this.  When the evenings’ entertainment for a family consists of sitting around the television watching movies and eating popcorn, then the whole family suffers the repercussions.  Families that share bad habits can also learn to break the bad habits together.

Because there may be several people in a family that need to lose weight, the option of using some type of detox program that helps show them how to lose belly fat may not be the best option for a family that decides to lose weight together.  It also might not be practical for a whole family to meet in the living room and do their six pack abs exercises on a nightly basis, but there are many other ways that the family can work to get fit together.  A workout can involve many fun things that are everyday activities for a family.  After the evening meal, the parents and children can take a stroll around the block.  The effects of being together more are not just losing weight, but also doing things as a group that are fun  If weather is a problem, there are video games that promote physical fitness that the whole family can enjoy together.  Whatever a family chooses, they need to make the time available to exercise on a regular basis.

The next factor to consider is controlling the food that is being consumed.  Dining at restaurants is nice, but it is better to eat dinner together at home more often.  Get rid of the fatty foods that make up many peoples diets and replace them with foods that are lower in fat and contain more nutrients.  Make the serving portions smaller when serving the food.  Eating healthy and eating less is a key to a family losing weight.  A family can support each other and help keep them from making unhealthy choices.  Because the whole family is trying to eat healthy, a family is able to keep the unhealthy foods out of the house.  The grocery list doesn’t need to include cookies and ice cream if no one is going to eat them.

The whole family working to get healthy provides a tremendous amount of support that is hard for people to find elsewhere even on web sites like AskDrLivingston.com, where people who are trying to lose weight often turn to when they need help in dieting.  A family that is working together to lose weight will understand what each other is going through and provide the help when it is needed.  Having several people providing the motivation can make it easier for the whole group to lose the weight that they want to.

It is very common for children to be fat when their parents are also fat.  If parents and children want to break the cycle of obesity then it can be done.  If a family wants to live a better lifestyle, they need to find a way to do it together and to do the things necessary to live that better lifestyle.
